RockX Museum App: An AR journey app for music and instrument enthusiasts.

Project brief

The RockX AR Museum App is an augmented reality application designed to enhance the visitor experience at the RockX Museum. It offers interactive features that allow users to explore exhibits, learn about rock music history, and engage with digital content in new and immersive ways.

Problem

No off-the-shelf software is available for managing the museum's digital presence that the staff finds acceptable. Due to the lack of an intuitive map and clear direction, navigation for users around the museum might be a confusing and frustrating experience.

Empathetic Need: Nostaligia, travel, Get Experience of AR

 

Quanshay is a journalist for Rolling Stone magazine.

​Her goal is to write captivating stories, and her recent interest has been in Rock n Roll, with the combination of the nostalgia it brings to older people and the retro novelty it sparks in younger people. After hearing of RockX, an interactive museum, she aims to travel to the location to fully assess the immersive experience.

Carter

Event Planner

Empathetic Need: Time, Music Engaging experience, nervousness.

 

Carter is an event planner at a medium-sized company, and wants to hold a corporate event at RockX. Because there are multiple people involved, he wants an accurate gauge of the time and the nature of the event. He is a little nervous to schedule an event outside the company building, but he also vants an engaging experience for the event attenders.

Jim

Employee

Empathetic Need: Mentoring childern about music, Love music.

 

Jim works for company and loves the different types of music and want to share this passion for music with his children. He is searching for some app or technology like AR because he believes it will create interest in his children. He also enjoys watching movies and listening to new songs.

Mark

Teenager

Empathetic Need: Destress, Dream big.

 

Mark is a local high school student with a big passion for rock music. He even bought an electric guitar with pocket money that he has saved up since middle school. Although Mark hasa band made up of friends, he knows he has to put studies before rock music. He still dreams of possibilities. For Mark, immersing himself in rock music

Testing

Before testing

Replace and add some features:
1. Replacing live streaming to video icon.

2. Replacing details with just single "i" icon - it just shows the detail of band, unlike previous one where all the information was in one place.
3. Added gifts/merchadise, about guitar, about artist icons.
This icons and details appears on screen accoding to the movement of user in events

Learnings

Being an aspiring product designer, working on this product not only taught me the basics I should be aware of while collaborating with different teams but also introduced me to the niche of exploring a rich rock and roll culture and people's expectations towards the music genre.
